Purpose
The Children’s Pastor will oversee the programming and ministry of kindergarten through 5th grade that propels the next generation to celebrate, apply, and extend the gospel in their community. They will be a proactive, experienced leader who sets vision and builds great teams. They will facilitate weekly gatherings for 150+ kids and work alongside a team of 60 adult volunteers and 20 student volunteers.

Kids’ Discipleship Ministry
Be a front-facing leader that champions weekly gatherings, camps, and other events throughout the year
Create environments that are safe, simple, engaging, and age appropriate
Cultivate a relational ministry that is centered on the gospel and resourcing families
Responsible for communicating, planning, and executing ministry with excellence
Ensure that all systems, practices, and procedures are functioning well
Build Great Teams
Recruit, develop, train, and retain leaders/volunteers
Know, love, care for those in your sphere of influence
Encourage and empower volunteers both individually and as a group on a regular basis
Cultivate Relational Ministry
Cultivate a relational ministry culture built on trust
Connect with volunteers on a regular basis outside of Sunday mornings
Connect with families on a regular basis outside of Sunday mornings
Celebrate milestones as an effort to cultivate maturity
Qualifications:
Personal
Cultivate and maintain a healthy spiritual life that includes prayer, worship, studying the Word, and applying the gospel to your life and family
Be a church member that aligns with the values of New Union Baptist Church
Collaborative and enjoys working in a team environment
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Prove ability to assess and initiate action independently when needed
Can work autonomously and prioritize work appropriately
Demonstrates creative and effective problem-solving skills
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
Education & Education
Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution preferred. Seminary Degree is desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of ministry experience in the area of Preschool or Children, or an equivalent occupation in education is preferred.
Able to articulate a clear call to ministry to children
